New Regulations

Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria regulates the commercial passenger vehicle industry in Victoria, in accordance with various Acts, Regulations and other legislative instruments.

The Commercial Passenger Vehicle Industry Regulations came into effect on 2 July 2018 and can be viewed here:

The Regulations relieve the industry of compliance with a number of technical requirements.

The purpose of the new Regulations is to support safe commercial passenger vehicle services and ensure consumer protections are in place, while enabling the industry to compete in an evolving operating environment. The key changes focus on:

  • driver responsibilities and passenger behaviour
  • vehicles and vehicle safety
  • fares and charges
  • operational oversight
  • record keeping.
