Industry code of practice

The Victorian Commercial Passenger Vehicle Industry Code of Practice (the Code) provides information and guidance to industry about meeting regulatory requirements – in particular safety duties.

The Code is intended to be used by all safety duty holders – those that have a responsibility for the safety of a commercial passenger vehicle service – to assist in providing commercial passenger vehicle services that are safe and comply with the commercial passenger vehicle industry legislative framework.

The Code has been developed in consultation with industry stakeholders and is set out in two parts. Part one was finalised in July 2019 and part two in February 2020.

Part 1: Risk Culture and Safety Management

Part one provides all industry parties with an understanding of the risk management process so that they can take steps to control, eliminate or mitigate risks in a manner that is appropriate to the size and nature of their commercial passenger vehicle, equipment or service business.

Part 2: Meeting your safety duties

Part two provides practical guidance to drivers, booking service providers, vehicle owners and other parties who play a role in providing commercial passenger vehicle services on complying with their safety duties.
