How do I register my account?

If you do not already have a registered account with CPVV, visit Create your User Portal Account. Then sign up with your name and email address.

Enter your name as it appears on your Victorian driver licence. Make sure you enter your first, middle and last names in the correct fields. View the CPVV Public Register to check how your name should appear. The format of your name on your commercial passenger vehicle registration(s) and driver accreditation should match your Victorian driver licence.

Once you have entered your details, you will get an email with an autogenerated password.

Click on the link in the email to go to the CPVV User Portal. Then, sign up to your account with your email address as your account username. Use the password that was in the email we sent you.

For accredited drivers:

Select ‘no’ to the question Do you represent a company, a cooperative, a partnership or an office holder in an incorporated association?

This will allow you to set up your account in your name, using your date of birth, DC number and licence number to validate your account details.

Once your driver accreditation has been validated and you have set your contact details, you will see your portal user homepage.

For non-accredited users/vehicle owners:

You will be asked if you are acting on behalf of an entity (do you represent a company, a cooperative, a partnership or an officeholder in an incorporated association?). Answer this question based on who the vehicle is registered to.

Select:

  • ‘no’ if the vehicle’s CPV registration is in your name
  • ‘yes’ if your vehicle is registered to any of the following: a company, cooperative, partnership or incorporated association.

If you are applying as an individual (sole trader), you need to enter your contact details, date of birth and upload photo identification (licence or passport) to set up your account.

For more information on how to register your account as an entity please refer to the FAQ response below.

The portal asks me whether I represent a company, a cooperative, a partnership or an officeholder in an incorporated association. What does this mean?

This is to work out which type of account holder you are.

If you select ‘Yes’ – you will get an account for a non-individual owner (for example, an account on behalf of a company, cooperative, partnership or incorporated association).

If you select ‘No’ – you will create an individual account (for example, independent business owner or sole trader).

For registered ABN (a company, cooperative, partnership or incorporated association)

If you are creating the account on behalf of a company, cooperative, partnership or incorporated association, select ‘Yes’. That will prompt you to enter the ABN for the account on behalf of a company, cooperative, partnership or incorporated association. Entering the ABN will auto-populate the entity’s name as it appears on the Australian Business Register. Only select this option if the ABN entered is in the same name as the company/partnership, as the generated business name will be used as the account username for the online portal.

I am an independent business owner/sole trader. How do I sign up?

If you are an individual operating as an independent business owner or sole trader, we recommend that you register your account as an individual. This will ensure your account matches your driver accreditation and/or any CPV registrations in your name.

When asked if you are acting on behalf of a company, partnership or association, select ‘No’. That will prompt you to enter your DC number (for accredited drivers), or licence and/or passport (for non-accredited drivers). This will generate the account as an individual. See How do I register my account? for more information.

If you add your registered Australian Business Number (ABN) during the sign-up process you will get a non-individual account. You can still register a vehicle under a non-individual name, but you will need to create a separate account (using a different email address) to access any services for products held in your name.

What do I do if I have forgotten my password?

To reset your password, click ‘Forgot password?’. Then enter your email address on the CPVV ‘Forgot your Password?’ screen.

We’ll email you a new password with a link to take you back to the CPVV User Portal.

See the below video for a step-by-step guide showing you how to change your password.

Can I change the email address that I have used to sign up to my account?

No. You cannot change your email address once you have created your portal account.

Check that you are using the right email address for your portal account set-up. You will use this address as your username to access your profile and the CPV registrations linked to that account.

How do I update my contact details?

After setting up your account, log in to the portal and select ‘Edit my details’ from the side menu. Enter your new contact details and submit.

This will update the contact information for:

  • your driver accreditation (for accredited drivers) and
  • any CPV registrations linked to the portal account.

Updating your address

You can use the portal to update account information on behalf of a non-individual entity (company, partnership or incorporated association).

If the address entered does not match the populated address list on the portal, please email registration@cpv.vic.gov.au to tell us about the change of address.

Updating your address (for accredited drivers)

If you have recently moved, you need to tell VicRoads before you update your address with CPVV. Please see Update my details for more information.

I have vehicles registered under a company, and I am a holder of driver accreditation. How do I create my account?

If you are an accredited driver, register your account as an individual. This will allow you to keep track of your driver accreditation. If you have any CPV registrations in your name, they will display on the same portal account.

If you are also the primary contact for CPV registrations registered to a company, partnership or association, you need to create a separate account to view those registrations. You will need a separate email address for each account.

How do I access my driver certificate on the CPVV User Portal?

Accredited drivers can view and download their driver accreditation certificates through the portal.

You’ll need a CPVV User Portal account to do this. For information on how to register, please see How do I register my account?.

Log in to the portal and select ‘Driver Certificate’ on the menu to download a pdf version of your certificate.

Print this download to keep a copy of your driver certificate. Or, save the pdf version to your phone or tablet to produce when required.

Accredited drivers should carry their Victorian driver licence and ID card (if applicable). These will be used as a form of verification against the driver certificate. Information displayed on your certificate will be used in conjunction with the Public Register to validate your driver accreditation.

You can access the Public Register through your portal account or view it on our website.

Visit Accredited Driver Responsibilities for more information on your driver accreditation requirements.

I’m not seeing my driver accreditation. What do I do?

This happens when the portal cannot match the driver accreditation number with the name and date of birth you entered when you signed up.

If you can’t see the option to view your driver accreditation certificate, you will not be able to manually update your portal account to access this service.

If your driver accreditation has been suspended or cancelled, you won’t be able to see it.

If you are having issues accessing your driver accreditation through the CPVV User Portal, please email driver@cpv.vic.gov.au. Include your DC number, full name, date of birth and licence number.

How do I view my CPV registrations on the portal?

First, register with the CPVV User Portal.

When creating your account, enter your name as it displays on your Victorian Drivers Licence. Make sure you select the correct entity type, as this will affect what CPV registrations appear on your portal.

You will choose the entity type by answering the question: Do you represent a company, a cooperative, a partnership or an officeholder in an incorporated association?

For CPV registrations held in your name: applying as an individual (selecting ‘No’) will allow you to view CPV registrations on that account.

If the vehicle has been registered as a CPV in the company’s name: you need a non-individual company account to view and manage the company’s CPV registration. This also applies to vehicles registered under a partnership or incorporated association.

Once you have created your account, your list of CPV registrations will appear on the portal’s homepage, along with the following vehicle details:

  • CPV registration number
  • Plate registration number
  • VIN
  • CPV registration status (booked/unbooked).

A ‘Booked’ status will appear alongside each CPV registration appearing on the portal. Registered vehicles waiting on approval for unbooked services (taxi), will be marked as ‘Pending’. This will be updated to reflect an active unbooked status once the vehicle has been successfully registered as a taxi.

If you cannot view your CPV registration(s) on the portal, see the next question: I cannot see my CPV registrations on the portal. What do I do?

I cannot see my CPV registrations on the portal. What do I do?

  • Portal account email address
  • Your first and last name
  • Date of birth
  • DC number (if applicable).
  • Contact number

How do I register a new vehicle?

You will be asked to confirm you are the vehicle owner and to select which service it will be used to provide (booked or unbooked). See Register a Vehicle for more information on which type of service best applies to your vehicle’s CPV registration.

In the CPV registration application, enter your vehicle details. These include the registration plate number, VIN, make and model of the vehicle. Once you submit this information, we’ll email you a confirmation and receipt. The new CPV registration will show instantly on your portal account.

How do I surrender my vehicle using the CPVV User Portal?

If you no longer need the CPV registration or have sold your vehicle, you may now surrender your CPV registration using the portal. See Surrender your vehicle for more information.

How to surrender your CPV registration

To surrender your vehicle, you have to log in to the CPVV User Portal. If you don’t have an account, see How do I register my account?

Once you have logged in, click ‘Surrender My Vehicle’ to the right of your vehicle’s CPV registration. Submitting your request will remove the CPV registration from the portal and the Public Register. You will get an email from noreply-vehicle-registration@cpv.vic.gov.au. This email will confirm your vehicle’s CPV registration has been surrendered.

Please note:

  • If your vehicle’s CPV registration does not appear on the portal, refer to the CPVV User Portal FAQs CPV registrations will not appear on the portal if they have been surrendered.

  • your name
  • plate number
  • Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria registration number
  • either your date of birth OR the entity name (if the vehicle is registered to an organisation or company).

We’ll take 2-5 days to process your request once we get it.

How do I update my CPV registration?

Updating your CPV registration may include:

  • Including/removing unbooked services
  • Updating your vehicle’s registration plate number

You can’t make these changes using the CPVV User Portal. Please see Changing your vehicle to find out how to request these changes.

I would like to register a new vehicle for unbooked services but would like to keep the same taxi plate number. How do I apply?

You need to make a new application to register the new vehicle with the same unbooked (taxi) number plate.

Visit Changing your vehicle for more information, then submit your CPV registration application through the CPVV User Portal.

Invoices in the User Portal

Once you’re logged in to the user portal, you will be able to see all your outstanding invoices on the left-hand side of the screen, under the heading ‘CPV Invoices’.

This section will display invoices for both vehicle and driver accreditation

Click on ‘outstanding’ to view your invoices or download invoices, when you are ready to pay, select ‘pay’ and enter your Visa or Mastercard details.

Once paid, the portal will generate a receipt which can be viewed and downloaded at any time.
