About the Roadmap to Recovery

On 6 September, the Victorian Government announced an update to coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions and a roadmap to reopening via safe, steady and sustainable steps.

By moving from stages to steps, Victoria has a long-term plan for the pathway out of restrictions and into COVID Normal.

Importantly, the steps aim to have the whole of the state to be at COVID Normal by the end of the year – making sure family barbeques, summer holidays, a trip to the beach and boating and fishing can all still happen.

Metropolitan Melbourne

In metropolitan Melbourne, commercial passenger vehicle services are currently restricted.

From 11:59pm 13 September 2020, metropolitan Melbourne will enter the First Step of the Metro Melbourne Roadmap with some easing of restrictions.

This means drivers can pick up or drop off a passenger, however for passengers living in metropolitan Melbourne should only use a commercial passenger vehicle to travel for permitted work, or for emergencies, medical, care or compassionate purposes.

These measures are in place to keep everyone safe and to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). You can work during the curfew hours (9pm-5am) to provide CPV services for these purposes.

People can only leave home for only 4 reasons and must stay local (5km), with new exemptions for people who live alone (will be able to have 1 nominated visitor to your home).

Drivers can still work during COVID-19 as a permitted service but must obtain a permitted worker permit and must also comply with the COVIDSafe Plan of their booking service provider.

Drivers and your passengers must still wear a face covering (unless the driver or their passenger has a lawful exemption).

Regional Victoria

From 11:59pm 13 September 2020, regional Victoria will enter the Second Step of the Regional Roadmap with easing of restrictions for commercial passenger vehicles. This is subject to all the necessary health requirements being met.

In regional Victoria, people can only leave home for only 4 reasons, with new exemptions for people who live alone.

For those living in regional Victoria, there will be no restrictions on the distance that can be travelled within regional Victoria and there will be special arrangements for border communities.

Drivers can still work during COVID-19 as a permitted service but must obtain a permitted worker permit and must also comply with the COVIDSafe Plan of their booking Service Provider.

Drivers and your passengers must still wear a face covering (unless the driver or their passenger has a lawful exemption).
