Card restrictions

The Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) does have some limits and restrictions. Please read below for more information.

You cannot use your MPTP taxi card if the trip is:

  • covered by insurance
  • covered by any other Government organisation, including:
    • the Transport Accident Commission
    • the Department of Veterans' Affairs
    • the Department of Education and Training
    • the Department of Human Services.

The trips are not covered whether they are paid for directly by the government organisation or if you claim their cost back later.

Yearly limit

Members can travel in any participating registered Victorian commercial passenger vehicle and pay a subsidised fare. Members are entitled to a maximum subsidy of $60 per trip and a subsidy cap of $2,180 per financial year.

Members are exempt from the yearly subsidy cap limit if they:

  • use a wheelchair permanently outside of the home
  • have a disability listed on the Multi Purpose Taxi Program exemptions
  • have a Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card that is endorsed with Extreme Disablement Adjustment (EDA) or Totally and Permanently Incapacitated (TPI).

What if I need more than the yearly limit?

If you require an additional subsidy call us on 1800 638 802 between 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, or email us .
